The Bikes vs Cars App. The app stores the user’s cycling trips and converts the distance into CO2 emissions and oil saved. It provides both an individual and a collective experience, tracking and recording the user’s own bike trips, and also sharing the data so that a global total number of kilometres travelled and CO2/oil saved is shown. This collected data is being displayed through The Bike Data Project is platform created for the app. We hope the data will be used as a basis for a larger, political discussion around traffic, oil and climate change, and can at the same time function as feedback for city-planners to build bike friendly cities.
