In a world of global warming, we need to find alternative solutions to our road transports. In Sweden they account for about 30% of carbon dioxide emissions. Electric vehicles are more than twice as efficient compared to internal combustion engines. Batteries are, however, large, expensive and take time to charge. To increase the use of electric vehicles, these disadvantages need to be addressed and a better solution found. Electric-roads transmit electric power to the vehicle during driving which makes it possible to charge and propel the vehicle with electricity from the grid. This would solve the problem of both the charging time and mileage and reduce the need for battery capacity.
