Development of technical and social innovation for clothing with focus on sustainability

The project is an interdisciplinary initiative that links technology with clothing. The intention is to radically reform and challenge traditional production methods and habitual consumption of clothing with a focus on health, the environment and ethics. The textile industry stands for more pollution than the airline industry and is notorious for causing human suffering in the form of inhuman working conditions. A large part of today’s clothing contains toxic substances which pose a health risk. The aim is to challenge and reverse these harmful and ethical anomalies.

Everything happens in our cities today. Car chases, robberies, murders now belong to everyday life. These “events” are often severe and almost always involve the emergency services; ambulance, police, fire brigade. The public is exposed to danger without knowing what is going on, not even knowing that something is going on. Our idea is based on making the public aware that something extraordinary is going on in the area/environment where they are. The public will get time to be extra watchful and careful and keep out of the away for their own and the common good. The aim is to get a safer society; to enable motorists, cyclists and pedestrians to react to emergency vehicles.


New method for early and precise diagnosis of cancer using multi-aptamer/ISET-MS

We aim at an early and precise diagnosis of the disease by the detection of multiple-target biomarkers through improved sampling strategy for mass spectrometry analysis. Cancer is one of the main diseases causing death worldwide. Still the most effective treatment against cancer is early diagnosis, as cancer is very heterogeneous regarding its cause, and different proteins are correlated to its metabolism. A new method for multi-biomarker detection is urgently required for monitoring or prediction of the progression of the disease. The aim is to implement grafting multi-aptamers onto ISET-MS which is cutting-edge intersectional research and a challenge from a technological perspective.


Sorting based on secretion using advanced microfluidics and bioresponsive hydrogels

We aim to contribute to a better understanding of what governs an individual cell’s secretion of different substances and the role played by external chemical stimuli. It will lay the basis for utilization in several areas. Diabetes is based on a disorder of the secretion of insulin by beta cells and glycogen by alpha cells as a function of glucose concentration in the surrounding area. Infectious diseases are another area where chemical communication between pathogens is important for the formation of biofilms which play a major role in the onset of an infection. Bacterial secretion of enzymes is important for the occurence of resistance to antibiotics.


Culture for many — RTIC

Today there are no digital rooms where pianists, orchestras, street artists, comedians, dancers (and many, many more), individuals or groups, can get to know one another and also interact with each other in different cultural forms. In the business world there is LinkedIn, in the research world Academia, but in the field of culture there is no obvious forum for presentations of artists, their works and most importantly, interaction with their audience. We are in the process of creating a unique place that is relevant for both cultural workers and for audiences. This will be a place that helps culture and its stars and players to be seen and create synergies across otherwise difficult to bridge cultural boundaries.
