Dressings with inspection windows

A dressing, which is fitted with windows, that can alternate between transparent and opaque. This allows inspection of a wound without removal of the dressing while the wound remains protected. Absorbents for absorbing wound exudate are located beside the wound which results in lateral pressure on the skin and across the wound. This lessens the pain should the dressing press directly on the wound. The idea has been considered so unique that patents have been granted, so far only by Sweden.
