The goal is to obtain elastin-cryogels suitable for in vitro/in vivo activation of lung regeneration. These biomaterials will offer different possibilities to incorporate cell-instructive factors to control cell growth and proliferation that are fundamental for regenerative responses. Being able to trigger a healthy cellular response in patients locally will open windows in tissue engineering and medical applications, where the lack of organ donors to treat patients is a limiting factor.
