Chronic ear infections are a major problem in developing countries and occur after untreated ear infections with ruptured eardrums, where bacteria form a biofilm that destroys the middle ear. In Sweden, external otitis is common, especially during the summer, and requires cleaning of painful and swollen ear canals. This new plastic pipette can be used for both chronic ear infections in developing countries and external otitis in Sweden, with antiseptic treatment as an alternative to antibiotics.
