Peace in our time – new Nordic music for oboe quartet

Firma Joensen, Alvi

We want to start a unique collaboration where, through workshops, we find a common musical language that is adapted exactly to the quartet’s four musicians bringing out their individual strengths. By creating a sound laboratory, musicians and composers can help each other understand the possibilities and limitations of these specific instruments. The theme of the project is to investigate whether it is possible to express peace through music. War has been portrayed in many ways throughout the ages, but what does peace sound like?

Newly written music for trumpet and piano

Håkan Hardenberger

The aim is to document newly written music for trumpet and piano as well as new piano music on the leading record label BIS. This way the repertoire will get international distribution and reach a larger and wider audience. The album will consist of an aspiring repertoire that is very close to my heart and that greatly needs this opportunity to reach a large audience.

Invisible Rooms

Ola Sandberg

Iegor Reznikoff shows that cave paintings are placed where the resonance is strongest. Using sound to explore rooms is an archaic method that has been forgotten. In an age when the eye has been placed on a pedestal, it is more important than ever to listen. By directing light towards sound, I do not only want to intensify my own listening, but also invite others to do the same. The music created in this project is an invitation to intense listening and thereby hearing the room in which it is created and based.

Kids for Kids – Mother Goose musical fairy tales

Offstage Kammarmusikförening

We want to reach out to people who don’t usually encounter classical music for several reasons. We will get rid of the barriers caused by etiquette by moving the music away from the traditional concert halls. In new locations, we create a more intimate and direct connection with the listener. Our bridges symbolize communication, integration and overcoming obstacles for a more inclusive society.

Disc recording with the folk music a cappella group Åkervinda

Åkervinda ekonomisk förening

Åkervinda’s arrangements preserve the Swedish folk music tradition while also creating a new genre. The group is inspired by singing styles from all over the world such as Bulgarian folk music singing, overtone singing, quarter tones that are heard a lot in Swedish folk music as well as in the blues. The goal of the production is to give non-commercial music the place it deserves. They also want to inspire other young women to take their music seriously and dare to follow their voice.

Where we meet!

Moa Nissfolk

Malmö is a multicultural city, which is reflected in the people in extra care housing and meeting places. Sadly, this is not reflected in the concerts at the afore mentioned places, as the repertoire today mostly consists of Swedish songs and hits; music that many of the older people may not have a nostalgic connection to. With a wider repertoire, I do not only want to reach those who never otherwise get “their music” played, but also contribute to an exchange of musical experiences among the audience.

Moderna Musica – The meaning of time

Ekonomiska föreningen Moderna Musica i Malmö

The goal of this project and of our activities is to contribute to the motivation of children and young people to continue exploring classical music and for classical music to remain a natural part of today’s and Malmö’s cultural life. We want to highlight young musicians, conductors and composers, as well as open a forum for young professional artists and ensure that they can work in Skåne’s cultural scene after graduation.

Disc recording with the Bülow quartet

Adam Bülow

We feel that modern Nordic folk music is influenced today often by popular music and classical music. We feel, however, that there is an absence of groups that, with the folk music tradition as linchpin, are influenced by improvisational music and jazz in their sound and in their arrangement. By producing this album, we can contribute to broadening the genre with a perspective that is not so common and hopefully inspire others to make innovative modern folk music.

Music in the Apple Kingdom

Sällskapet Pro Musica

The goal of the festival is to create strong cultural experiences of nature and music and arouse the curiosity of the visitor through a wonderful summer festival that offers more than expected. Here, the concert visitor can easily step in to guided walks or outdoor concerts, just as the nature lover can easily discover music and instruments they did not know existed. By uniting two normally separate interests, they help each other to be both seen and strengthened!

Spatial Audio Workshop

Inter Arts Center, Lunds universitet

The goal is to design a series of workshops led by professionally competent educators and practitioners which, in addition to preparation, are conducted with regular meetings over several months and individual tasks for the participants to solve in dialogue with the teachers/supervisors. The content is designed to stimulate your own creativity and artistic development. The series is aimed both at artistically active musicians in general and students at art schools.

Ravine’s music and science series

Francisca Skoogh

A comprehensive approach to science in relation to art, culture and especially to music is lacking today, and no such project exists. Ravine is not least geographically interesting, as north-eastern Skåne does not have access to the information available in Lund and Malmö with its large universities. This project would bring knowledge and music to interested audiences who normally cannot get to big cities.

With resonant organs – Gregorian chants in Swedish according to music belonging to St. Cecilia

Collegium Sanctæ Ceciliæ

This disc recording would enable the spread of Gregorian chants in Swedish draped in contemporary language. The recording would be of both historical and musical value, as well as protect aesthetic and theological aspects, but also fill a need that exists in people. We feel that there is a strong longing for this type of music – which is both timeless, existential and which at the same time feels constantly innovative.

Trelleborg Piano Festival

Trelleborg Pianofestival

The overall purpose is to support and help the top pianists at the beginning of their professional career. Partly through concrete tools in entrepreneurship, partly by creating a meeting place for the exploratory pianist, a kind of development centre where pianists with different skills and backgrounds meet and exchange experiences. This is combined with outward-looking activities to offer concerts with pianists at the highest level in Trelleborg.

Disc recording with Hernqvist / Mandelmann project

Aaron Mandelmann

The purpose of the Hernqvist / Mandelmann project is to establish a modern and contemporary ensemble that in a democratic way works together with the music to get us established on the international jazz scene as a working band. A jazz band with roots in Malmö and where the music is of the highest artistic level and where the band’s members are equal from both a musical and a gender perspective.

School tour with Malmö Brass Quintet

Lois Ivarsson

Our goal is to reach out to at least 15 different schools in the countryside to entertain and inspire young people. After the concerts, we hope that the youngsters will have learned more about brass music and instruments. A dream result would be for one of these youngsters to look for an Art school and start playing. One of the goals we have with this project is also to breathe life into the music scene again after a long time of silence.

Sofielund’s Garden Concerts

Laurin Bergcrantz Music Productions AB

In the Sofielund Garden Concerts we create a new summer music scene in Malmö. Here we invite international artists as well as Malmö’s own and other Scanians. We engage Grammy-nominated artists, put together temporary constellations, create new contacts and cultivate old ones. What is unique is that the Sofielund Garden Concerts offer what we consider is good music, in a very wide concept. We affirm the unexplored as well as the traditional and let creation be the focus.

Recordings and performances of Elfrida Andrée’s collective works for violin and piano

Marcus Bäckerud

We want to contribute to the spreading of less established repertoires and greater diversity in Swedish classical music. By recording Elfrida Andrée’s music for violin and piano, we hope to achieve this. The recordings will be available free of charge on digital platforms so that both audiences and musicians in Sweden and the rest of the world can discover Andrée’s music. In the long run, we also hope to be able to put Andrée and Swedish classical music on the international music map.

Cantica sacra – Recording of newly written church music

Hampus Söndrebo

The purpose is to highlight the new music that is composed for the church, in the church. Church musicians have always been involved in composition and have often used the Church’s own musical treasures, such as the Gregorian chants or the Reformation chorales, as a basis for innovation. My music is often based on the Gregorian chant. This is a serious way of documenting newly composed music within the Church of Sweden in the 2020s and for me a way of managing and developing the tradition I work in.

Tribute to Clara

Rolf Martinsson

The aim is to highlight women composing and thereby contribute to highlighting female role models in composition to inspire young women to study composition of classical and contemporary music. I also want to help create a better balance between the works of female and male composers in Western contemporary music to inspire orchestra repertoires.
