The aim of the ALBA Chamber Music Festival is to experiment with new ideas and concepts that we believe will meet young people’s need for a new form of chamber music experience. We shift the focus from details to the whole by incorporating the entire venue and everything happening within it into a unified whole. The idea is that the festival at Lokstallarna is just the beginning of the journey towards raising the status of classical music in society. By being held in Malmö, the festival will be easily accessible to audiences from across the region.

We aim to create a musical experience that touches the audience deeply, whilst exploring how themes of belonging and a sense of home can be expressed artistically and musically. With a brand-new composition, we also aim to help spark curiosity about contemporary art music in rural Skåne, through concerts in the areas we both regard as ‘home’, albeit in different ways. Finally, we hope our concerts will help strengthen the accordion’s status within classical music.

We aim to develop a performance that can be staged in both secondary schools and at other musical events. The goal is to create a genre-bending performance, both musically and artistically. We intend to use humour, finesse and musical rigour to modernise and create new music in the spirit of Berlin cabaret.

The project aims to create a new chamber music series in Lund that offers a platform where recent graduates and established artists can come together in a shared forum alongside the audience – a space for inspiration, the exchange of knowledge and artistic encounters. In this way, we wish to help renew and broaden interest in classical music in the region, as well as strengthen Lund’s cultural life with a format that differs from the more traditional concert venues.

With this project, MNBB wishes to celebrate and mark the 100th anniversary of Antônio Carlos Jobim’s birth, and to highlight his fantastic music so that it reaches more and new listeners of all ages. Through our collaboration with, amongst others, Petra Ahlmark, who has spent many years independently studying the Brazilian musical styles of bossa nova, samba and MPB (Música Popular Brasileira), we see opportunities to bring these fantastic compositions and arrangements to a big band audience in Denmark and Sweden.

The aim is to produce and release an album of high artistic quality featuring works by Monnakgotla, Tarrodi, Blomberg and Ehlde, and to ensure the music reaches a wide audience in the long term through streaming platforms, radio and live performances. We also hope that this will pave the way and inspire more composers to write string quartets, and that this will put Sweden on the international music map, as well as establish us as a leading ensemble in contemporary Swedish chamber music.

Through this project, I aim to have five of my most important compositions – “String Quintet Manderley Tales”, “String Quartet No.2 Minimal Waters”, “Moments for Wind Quartet”, “Piano Trio Rapallo Games” and “Five Piano Pieces” – performed at a public concert and documented through a professional CD recording. In doing so, I aim to establish these works within a vibrant musical context and reach a new audience, as well as create a lasting record that will enable the continued dissemination of my music.

With What is Love? we aim to create a recording that unites the historical and the contemporary within a poetic soundscape, where the many expressions of love take shape over time. The aim is to create a modern, digital release through which we can reach new audiences within the context of early music. The aim is also to release a historical recording of a movement from Jan Dismas Zelenka’s work Laetatus sum, ZWV 90. Our trio has performed the piece twice in Sweden and now wishes to record it for the first time.

The objective of the project is to establish an artistic research framework in which mechanical processes and performer interaction (even collaborative performer interaction) act as compositional parameters. By developing experimental instruments and composing new works for them, the project investigates material agency, shared control, and emergent musical forms in the frame of the more and more blurred relationship between the composer, the instrument designer and the performer.

The aim is to strengthen artistic citizenship in Skåne through musical collaboration between musicians from Skåne and Ukraine, combined with public discussions on the role of culture in democracy and social engagement. The project seeks to use music as a meeting place for empathy, dialogue and community in a time marked by war and polarization.

We want to start a unique collaboration where, through workshops, we find a common musical language that is adapted exactly to the quartet’s four musicians bringing out their individual strengths. By creating a sound laboratory, musicians and composers can help each other understand the possibilities and limitations of these specific instruments. The theme of the project is to investigate whether it is possible to express peace through music. War has been portrayed in many ways throughout the ages, but what does peace sound like?

The aim is to document newly written music for trumpet and piano as well as new piano music on the leading record label BIS. This way the repertoire will get international distribution and reach a larger and wider audience. The album will consist of an aspiring repertoire that is very close to my heart and that greatly needs this opportunity to reach a large audience.

I want to carry out the book project because there are far too few books that describe rhythm pedagogy as a form of learning. Rörelser i Tiden (“Motion in time”) is a follow-up to my previous book Rytmikpedagogikens Nödvändighet (“The Necessity of Rhythm Pedagogy”) and will be used as course literature/teaching material in music teacher- training programmes at music colleges in Sweden.

The aim of the project is to explore more deeply what Nordic Old Time is for us. What are the points of contact between American and Nordic folk music? What happens to the music when we embrace it and write new music in the tradition of another continent? With the production of our next disc, we are getting closer to answering these questions. We want to clarify our musical profile and, in the process, make Old Time music accessible to the Nordic folk-music scene.

Iegor Reznikoff shows that cave paintings are placed where the resonance is strongest. Using sound to explore rooms is an archaic method that has been forgotten. In an age when the eye has been placed on a pedestal, it is more important than ever to listen. By directing light towards sound, I do not only want to intensify my own listening, but also invite others to do the same. The music created in this project is an invitation to intense listening and thereby hearing the room in which it is created and based.

The aim is to build bridges between the Latin American and Swedish cultures with text and music. We want to integrate Puerto Rican music with Colombian poetry and through this promote cultural diversity in Skåne. By highlighting these art forms, we aim to preserve and promote cultural richness in a society where culture needs support more than ever.

In the musical we follow the car owner’s wife, Anna Mårtensson. But the story is also about all of us. We believe there is a need to talk about identity and self-image; not least in troubled times when many people seek ‘quick truths’. This easily leads to prejudices about the Other.
The musical highlights that a human being is much more than what we see on the surface, but that we are united in basic and universal human needs, such as confirmation of the self and interaction with other people.

We want to reach out to people who don’t usually encounter classical music for several reasons. We will get rid of the barriers caused by etiquette by moving the music away from the traditional concert halls. In new locations, we create a more intimate and direct connection with the listener. Our bridges symbolize communication, integration and overcoming obstacles for a more inclusive society.

Åkervinda’s arrangements preserve the Swedish folk music tradition while also creating a new genre. The group is inspired by singing styles from all over the world such as Bulgarian folk music singing, overtone singing, quarter tones that are heard a lot in Swedish folk music as well as in the blues. The goal of the production is to give non-commercial music the place it deserves. They also want to inspire other young women to take their music seriously and dare to follow their voice.

There are several aims to our project idea. Through a historical fantasy story about mythical characters, we want to arouse interest in our cultural history and preserve nature. At the same time, we show our wind instruments highlight and demonstrate how they work. In addition, we present music that children and young people today do not get to hear in their daily music flow. Classical music presented in a music story is easy to absorb, and we hope to capture and even awaken their interest in music.
