Critically low blood pressure is an acute, life-threatening condition that requires immediate action. The first thing we want to do for these patients is to administer intravenous fluids and medication to raise their blood pressure. This requires access to the bloodstream. Normally, we use a central venous catheter (CVC) – a plastic tube inserted into a vein. We administer fluids and medication through this. The primary aim of this project is to save lives and improve patients’ quality of life.
